Figaro MobiTxt® Closed Captioning System

ACT is proud to be presenting Mainstage Performances with the Figaro MobiTxt® Closed Captioning System starting in 2017. A personal 4”x 6” tablet may be reserved by any Deaf/HH patron wishing to use Closed Captioning by calling or emailing the Ticket Office with the performance date/ time you are attending, or by alerting house staff that you’d like a device when you arrive at the theatre.

It is with the deepest gratitude that ACT acknowledges the Office of Arts & Culture for funding the permanent installation of the Figaro MobiTxt® Closed Captioning System for our Deaf/Hard of Hearing audience members. This system will be made available for all of ACT’s Mainstage productions beginning with Tribes. Performance dates can be identified on the show page by selecting any of the performances listed as “Caption” in the Dates to Note section of the Buy Tickets tab on the playpage. Captioned performances are typically Tuesday, Thursday, Friday, and Saturday.

Tribes (2017 Mainstage Season) actor Josh Castille demonstrates the Figaro system.

If you haven’t been able to experience this new technology yet, take a moment to read this story on seattlemet.com and take a look at what users have thought so far:

“I was able to understand almost all the dialogue.I and friends have season tickets for the Thursday matinees. I am able to now look forward to them. Thank you, thank you!!!”

“I wear a hearing aid in one ear and a cochlear implant in the other, so live theater is a challenge for me and is therefore a rare outing. I was delighted beyond words with the captioning device.”
